Summer 2025 Swim Season

Dear Piranha Families,

Since it was announced last summer that Moundbuilders Country Club would be moving to the Trout Club (now Licking Springs), which does not have a viable pool, the swim team board has been working tirelessly to come up with a plan that would enable our kids to keep swimming. We are happy to announce that, in collaboration with the Granville Recreation District (GRD), the Summer 2025 Swim Season is happening!!! There are many details that are not set in stone yet, but we wanted to get some information out so you can start planning your summer. We also want to assure ALL our past Piranha families that, whether you live in Granville or not, you are welcome to join the swim team. We’re not the same without you!

The *plan* is to practice Monday-Friday from 8-10:45am at Heath Pool (no evening practices this season), but that contract has not been finalized; we will let you know as soon as it is. We will be traveling away for every meet, as Heath cannot accommodate evening swim meets for us. And, unfortunately, we will not be able to offer Fry School this summer, as Heath offers their own swim lesson program.

While these limitations are not ideal, we hope you can see (as we do) the value in this sense of continuity for our swimmers. We are also hopeful that this is a temporary measure, and that in the near future Granville will have a pool of its own. As a group who has seen first hand the wonderful effects of teamwork, community, and learning/improving a skill in a positive peer environment, we hope you will make your voices heard in Village Council (or any) discussions about the need for a community pool. We CAN make it happen!

And now, the most important question: WHAT WILL OUR NEW TEAM BE CALLED? A few suggestions we've received so far are the "Granville Blue Gills" or the "Granville Blue Barracudas", but we'd love to hear your family’s ideas as well. Please reply with your suggestions by Wednesday, March 5th; we will then create a ballot and send it out for voting...

We couldn't be more excited to keep this important summer tradition going, and we hope you are too. Please look for registration information in the next few weeks, and be sure to sign up so we can keep swimming fast and having fun this summer!
